Latest Blue Team News

5.5.12 Penultimate Game The blues ended their penultimate game of the season with a 2-1 defeat against Hedge reds. A close game which could have gone either way, both teams played well, creating good chances. The blues have improved hugely since first forming as a team, every blues player should be proud. The team now have one game left before a break, they are playing a world cup final charity match against Southfield Saints at the Testwood Stadium, home of AFC Totton, on Wednesday 16th May 7pm kick off.
9.4.12 Hedge Derby - All Even The blues are in good form, only losing two out of their last seven matches, picked up a draw against sister team Hedge Reds. Debutant Lukas Swierz finished beautifully to put the blues ahead, only for the reds to equalise through a penalty. A great effort from both sides, very enjoyable for both teams.
13.3.12 Blues On Form Hedge Blues are rapidly improving as a team, as they won 6-2 against division two side Lighthouse International at the weekend. In the last four matches that the blues have played, they have won three, lost one, scored nineteen and conceded ten. They are in great form and look to continue their winning streak on Saturday against Southfield Saints.
4.2.12 One Goal Difference The blues on the back of two straight wins, were looking to make it three at the weekend. Despite a great effort and super team performance from the blues, Hedge End St Lukes won 3-2. Recent results show that the blues are improving rapidly and are stabilising well.
26.2.12 Two In A Row Hedge Blues won yet again, making it two wins in a row. Hedge played the club's NHS link team Southfield Saints in a friendly, and with ten goals in total, the game was a cracker. A great performance from both teams. Hedge Blues have now scored eleven goals in the past two games.
19.2.12 High Five The blues recorded their second win of the season with an impressive 5-1 win over Waterside B. A solid performance from every player along with motivation saw Hedge Blues grab three points. The blues are steadily improving, now finding the best positions on the pitch for each player and bonding as a team.
5.2.12 Charity World Cup Match Confirmed It will happen! The blues will be playing in a world cup charity match against Southfield Saints - the team Hedge have a strong link with. Famously back in August & September 2011, Hedge reds played against Southfield at the totton stadium infront of many spectators, raising money for the charity Dreams Come True and raising awareness of mental health. On 16th May, it's the blues who will be participating, hoping to attract a similar, if not more, amount of fans to the game as the reds did. More details will come in the next few weeks.
5.2.12 Game Postponed The game between Cosham and Hedge Blues has been postponed, a new date will be confirmed soon.
28.1.12 Improving After their WIN against the reds in the training match on Thursday evening, the blues were in good spirits and looked to Saturday's game against division one side Highfield. With the game being a friendly, the blues rotated many players during the match, and despite a very good effort with several chances coming close, the blues lost out by just four goals.
23.1.12 Turning Point The blues added another point to their league tally so far this season, with a goalless draw away against Testwood Baptist. The blues put in a superb performance, despite going down to ten men, they gave 100% consistently throughout the match which resulted in a clean sheet. Now the blues have stopped the losing record and mentality, they will now focus on training, and turn the games into wins.
17.1.12 January Transfer Rumours The club would like to confirm that neither the reds or blues will make any January signings. Due to the sheer size and quality of the two squads, there is no requirement for more players at this current time. Although, this will be reviewed before the start of next season.
19.12.11 Scoreline Doesn't Reflect Performance The blues may have lost 6-1 against league leaders FC Independence at the weekend, but the scoreline does not reflect the blues' performance in any way at all. The first half saw the blues dominate the game, coming in at half time level at 1-1, however several substitutions from both sides plus tired legs saw several quickfire goals, ending the game FC Independence 6-1 Hedge Blues. The results list may look dissapointing with many losses but the blues are steadily improving and are performing hugely better each week, the wins will come soon.
10.12.11 Another Win The reds won again on Saturday, after a very close game saw them run out 3-2 winners against the blues. The blues put in their best ever performance as a team and came very close to winning. The reds are now on a christmas break and play their next match in January against MVC in the league, whilst the blues face FC Independence on Saturday 10th Dec.
5.12.11 Friendly Win Saturday saw a 5-1 win for the reds over the blues. Despite some tired players after both teams went out for the christmas do the night before, the match contained some superb moves and goals.
26.11.11 Minor Problems The blues may have lost another game, but they are hugely improving their team performances. With only a few minor things to iron out, the team will be sure to start picking up the wins. They lost 4-1 at home to Hedge End St Lukes in a friendly.
19.11.11 Improving Hedge blues lost 4-1 against Hedge End St Lukes on Saturday, however, despite the result, the blues are constantly improving.
18.11.11 Hedge Expanding Even More? Hedge End MFC has grown hugely over the past few months with the addition of the newly formed Hedge Blue side, along with several new players for the Reds.

With so many players available to both teams and those who want to join, rumours have been flying about all over the place about a new team, so to clarify the rumours, club founder and current chairman Steve Garley released this statement;

'To clear up any rumours or questions people may have, I am genuinely considering forming another new team for next season. With the amount of players that have joined both the reds and blues, and the list that still want to join, another Hedge team could easily be formed. However, I will review this nearer to the end of this season and will take into account various things. Having such a huge group of players is fantastic for the club, and to add another team to the club would be great, though I need to select the right candidates to lead the teams.

As per league rules, once a player has played a league game for one team, they cannot go and play for another team in any of the three divisions within the same season, so every current Hedge player will have the opportunity to try out for another Hedge side if they wish to move. Eg. If A blues player wanted to join the reds or if a reds player wanted to move to the possible new team, then they can have the opportunity at the end of the season. Similarly, if a Hedge player wanted to become vice-captain/captain/manager then they will also have the opportunity to.

This club is fantastic to be a part of, and I have great plans and visions for the future.'

When asked what colour kit the new side may be wearing he commented: 'I've not decided yet, but would like to see yellow, like Brazil.'
18.11.11 Blues Squad Stats The blue teams statistics will be updated as soon as possible.
7.11.11 Improving Each Time The blues results list may not look pretty for the blues, however they are replicating their sister team's (the reds) results from their first ever season as a club. The blues are improving each time they train and play together in a match and that certainly showed on Saturday, as despite losing 3-1 against the reds, they put in a very good performance. Their next match is against Sainsbury's Hedge End, headed by reds manager Steve Garley. The game will be played at the Soton outdoor sports centre on astroturf, where both Hedge teams train, with kick off at 6pm.
1.10.11 Another Defeat, But Another Improvement The results may not be looking brilliant for the blues, but this is their first ever season of football. The team are improving each time they train and play together. The blues travelled away to play Cosham in the league, and came away with a 4-0 defeat.
24.9.11 Good Effort Saturday saw the blues put up a superb fight against the reds after equalising twice and nearly taking the lead. The match ended reds 4-3 blues.
19.9.11 Two Interviewed Between 3-4pm on Monday 19th September, Steve Garley and Sam Barham were interviewed live on air on Skyline Gold 102.5fm. They talked about several things including the recent charity match, the weekends results and whats happening in the future. Unfortunately, it didn't record correctly so we have no way of playing it back!
17.9.11 Unlucky Blues The blues unfortunately lost out 5-1 against FC Waterside A, match report to follow soon.
12.9.11 Radio Blues Two players from the Blues went down to the Skyline FM studio on Monday 12th September between 3-4pm and were interviewed about several things, the charity match was also advertised along with a bit on Southfield United, listen to it by clicking here. (It's a long one!) Two players from the Reds will be interviewed next Monday.
10.9.11 Two Blues Named In Charity Match Squad Manager Lee Berry and joint captain Jon Clark have both been selected to play in the world cup charity match on Tuesday 13th September. The match is Southfield United vs Hedge End MFC. The match is at the Testwood Stadium, Salisbury Road, Totton, with a 7pm kick off. Fans are advised to arrive early to avoid congestion at the gates, it's £3 entry each payable on the gate. All proceeds go to the charity Dreams Come True. Paul Willis, one of the blues' newest signing is playing for the opposition Southfield United after creating the team and being current manager.
10.9.11 Cup Fever It's the first round of the solent churches football league cup this Saturday and the blues have been drawn against the reds. This is the first time ever the two teams will play each other in a competitive match. The reds are on a five match unbeaten run, winning four and drawing one, scoring an impressive twenty goals in those five games. On the other hand, the blues are improving every time they train and play together, as shown by Saturday's opening game of the season when they recorded their first win, a 5-2 victory over FC Waterside B. The two sides face each other at Fleming Park, with a 10am kick off, the game will be refereed by Richard Rayner. Update; The blues unfortunately were knocked out by the reds by losing 7-0, though a great first half effort saw the first half end with just one goal between the sides. Read the match report here.

Away to Hedge End St Lukes: Build-Up ~ 25/8/11

Despite losing by twelve goals last weekend, the blues are constantly improving as a team through training and matches. Paul Willis makes his debut this Saturday, along with new signing John Jordan who will make his second appearance.

Both players will be vital throughout the season.
