| 12.5.12 | 100th Ever Game | The reds officially started their 'pre-season' with a 6-0 win over the blues. It was also the reds' 100th ever game as a team, marking a great moment in their history. | 5.5.12 | End Of The Season | The reds ended their rollercoaster of a season with a 2-1 win over Hedge blues. A close game which could have gone either way, both teams played well, creating good chances. Hedge hosted Eastleigh at home, the sports centre in Bassett, two goals from Terry Shearsmith, one from Jason Price, a penalty save from Jon Cox along with a superb positive performance from the team gave the home side the win. A rollercoaster season but an enjoyable one. The reds will play one last game on Saturday before they take a deserved rest and start to rebuild ready for next season. | |
| 9.4.12 | Hedge Derby - All Even | The reds' form has been dissapointing recently, but the blues v reds Hedge derby was a great opportunity to gain some of that winning mentality back. Blues' debutant Lukas Swierz put the blues ahead, only for the reds to equalise through a Jason Price penalty. A great effort from both sides, very enjoyable for both teams. | |
| 4.3.12 | Back To Winning Ways | The reds returned to their normal winning ways, as they beat Lighthouse International 4-0 at the weekend. Three goals from Martin Davis and a header from Bert Morris along with a superb team performance meant the reds grabbed the three points on offer. | |
| 25.2.12 | Another Loss | Hedge Reds lost their second game in a row at the weekend, the first time since May 2011 they have lost two in a row, as they lost by three goals to nothing against top of the league side Locksheath. The reds have now lost four games from the past six matches, but despite the results, each game has seen some good performances and chances that could have resulted in goals. The reds now look to Saturday were they face Lighthouse at home. | |
| 19.2.12 | Reds Lose | Despite going infront in the first couple of minutes of the game through a superb finish from Jason Price, the reds lost 3-2 against Eastleigh on Saturday. Hedge reds put in a good performance but a couple of errors meant they conceded a couple of goals which could've been prevented. | |
| 5.2.12 | Weekend's Friendly | The blues will take on the reds at the weekend in another friendly. The blues have been steadily improving over the past few months and are now giving teams a tough game, beating the reds in training, and in general playing better as a team. Due to the sheer size and quality of the two squads, there is no requirement for more players at this current time. Although, this will be reviewed before the start of next season. | |
| 15.1.12 | Back To Winning Ways | Hedge reds returned to normal Saturday after winning 4-1 against Victory in the league. Read the match report by clicking here. | |

| 10.12.11 | Another Win | The reds won again on Saturday, after a very close game saw them run out 3-2 winners against the blues. The blues put in their best ever performance as a team and came very close to winning. The reds are now on a christmas break and play their next match in January against MVC in the league, whilst the blues face FC Independence on Saturday 10th Dec. | |
| 5.12.11 | Friendly Win | Saturday saw a 5-1 win for the reds over the blues. Despite some tired players after both teams went out for the christmas do the night before, the match contained some superb moves and goals. The reds are now on a seven match unbeaten run in all competitions, losing only five games in twenty-eight matches. | |
| 26.11.11 | Three Goals, Three Points | Hedge reds added another three points to their league tally so far this season with a 3-0 win over Lighthouse International at home. A solid team performance from every player along with a penalty, a curling top corner free-kick and a cracking shot from outside the box, secured the three points. Read match report here. | |
| 19.11.11 | First Ever Goalless Draw | The reds played Eastleigh Baptist at home on Saturday, both midtable sides were looking for the three points to boost them up the table, however, a good performance from both sides saw the game end in a 0-0 draw. The result is the clubs first ever goalless draw, and the first 0-0 for a long time in all three divisions. | |
| 18.11.11 | Hedge Expanding Even More? |
Hedge End MFC has grown hugely over the past few months with
the addition of the newly formed Hedge Blue side, along with
several new players for the Reds. With so many players available to both teams and those who want to join, rumours have been flying about all over the place about a new team, so to clarify the rumours, club founder and current chairman Steve Garley released this statement; 'To clear up any rumours or questions people may have, I am genuinely considering forming another new team for next season. With the amount of players that have joined both the reds and blues, and the list that still want to join, another Hedge team could easily be formed. However, I will review this nearer to the end of this season and will take into account various things. Having such a huge group of players is fantastic for the club, and to add another team to the club would be great, though I need to select the right candidates to lead the teams. As per league rules, once a player has played a league game for one team, they cannot go and play for another team in any of the three divisions within the same season, so every current Hedge player will have the opportunity to try out for another Hedge side if they wish to move. Eg. If A blues player wanted to join the reds or if a reds player wanted to move to the possible new team, then they can have the opportunity at the end of the season. Similarly, if a Hedge player wanted to become vice-captain/captain/manager then they will also have the opportunity to. This club is fantastic to be a part of, and I have great plans and visions for the future.' When asked what colour kit the new side may be wearing he commented: 'I've not decided yet, but would like to see yellow, like Brazil.' |
|
| 15.11.11 | Full Squad |
The reds are not only in great shape at the moment, but they are
also in fantastic form. They've only lost five matches out of
twenty-five this season and the last time they lost in ninety
minutes was back in July against Whiteley, scoring a whopping
eighty-five goals and conceding just forty-nine in those
twenty-five games. This Saturday sees Hedge play at home against
Eastleigh in the league, both sides are midtable, with Hedge
reds occupying third place and Eastleigh in fourth. A win on
Saturday for the reds, who are looking for back-to-back
promotions, would see them go straight to the top of the league
as they have a game in hand over the top two, a great
achievement for the reds' first season in division two. They have a full squad available, including Terry Shearsmith who has made an impressive start to his Hedge career, scoring seven goals in his last two matches. Dan Rowling returns from his injury, and Dan Thomas is also available. A selection dilemma for the Hedge management but whatever side plays, they will put in a tremendous amount of effort throughout the whole ninety minutes. |
|
| 12.11.11 | Evens | Hedge reds travelled away to Crestwood College in Eastleigh to play a friendly against division three side Testwood. After being two goals down at half-time, Hedge put the pressure on in the second half. Hedge were awarded a penalty, which Jason Price converted, who then scored another two during the remainder of the match to grab himself a hattirck. Though it could have been a higher scoreline with several Hedge players coming close. Testwood equalised in the last two minutes of the game to end it as a draw. A much improved second half performance from the reds as the game was a good warmup for next Saturday's league clash with Eastleigh. Testwood 3-3 Hedge End MFC Reds. | |
| 7.11.11 | Another Red Win | The reds won again at the weekend, completing a 3-1 friendly win over their sister team, Hedge End MFC Blues. The season is going very well for the reds so far, having played twenty-four, winning fifteen of those, drawing four and losing five. The last time the reds lost within 90 minutes of football was back in July. They will be in action again this weekend in another friendly, opposition yet to be confirmed. | |
| 2.11.11 | Locksheath Rearranged |
The league fixture between Locksheath and Hedge Reds has been
postponed by one week, the fixture will now be played in the new
year. The reds are in action this weekend against their sister team Hedge End MFC Blues, in a friendly. Reds team news will follow in the next couple of days. |
|
| 30.10.11 | Simply Red | The reds were in action at the weekend, as they played Heartlands United at home. Hedge reds ran out 7-0 winners, after four goals from Terry Shearsmith, two from Jason Price and one from Bert Morris. An all round top quality performance from the home side, in what could have been a higher scoreline, picking up another vital three points in the league. Dan Rowling was injured during the first half of the game and is out for approximately two weeks, the club wish him well in his recovery. Match report is here. | |
| 24.10.11 | High Scoring Hedge Win Again | Another dominant display from the reds saw off Cosham in a friendly on Saturday. Despite a great effort from Cosham, their injury list grew throughout the game. This, along with a superb team performance from the reds, meant the game finished Hedge reds 7-2 Cosham. | |
| 11.10.11 | Knocked Out | Hedge reds were knocked out of the cup at the weekend. They drew 1-1 against Heartlands United but unfortunately lost out in the penalty shootout. Despite the loss, Hedge reds are technically still unbeaten in eleven games within ninety minutes. They will now look to focus on the league, with promotion firmly in mind. | |
| 1.10.11 | Reds Take Three Points | The reds travelled away to Winchester on Saturday to face top of the league team Victory Gospel. The reds ran out 5-3 winners, moving them up to second in the league. Read the match report here. | |
| 24.9.11 | Another Win | Hedge Reds won 4-3 on Saturday against the Blues in a friendly match. | |
| 19.9.11 | Two Interviewed | Between 3-4pm on Monday 19th September, Steve Garley and Sam Barham were interviewed live on air on Skyline Gold 102.5fm. They talked about several things including the recent charity match, the weekends results and whats happening in the future. Unfortunately, it didn't record correctly so we have no way of playing it back! | |
| 17.9.11 | Two Games, Two Draws | The reds drew 1-1 against Lighthouse International at the weekend, a game which the reds feel they should have won. Read the match report here. Hedge Reds have now played two games of their season, and both have been draws. | |
| 13.9.11 | Another Win | Hedge Reds won again to make it seven games unbeaten as they won 2-0 in the world cup charity match on Tuesday. Match report to follow soon. | |
| 12.9.11 | Hedge Interviewed On Radio | Two players from the Blues went down to the Skyline FM studio on Monday 12th September between 3-4pm and were interviewed about several things, the charity match was also advertised along with a bit on Southfield United, listen to it by clicking here. (It's a long one!) Two players from the Reds will be interviewed next Monday. | |
| 10.9.11 | Simply Red | It was simply red at the weekend as Hedge Reds secured a 7-0 win over the blues to make it to the second round of the SCFL cup. Read the match report here. | |
| 6.9.11 | New Official Facebook Page | The club have gone another step forward and have set up an official facebook page, there you will be able to get latest news, view photos/videos, and chat with other Hedge fans. The page covers both the Hedge Reds and the Hedge Blues. Take a look at our facebook page by clicking here and remember to click 'Like'! | |
| 3.9.11 | All Even | Hedge End MFC Reds recorded their first point of the season against MVC. After being two goals down, Hedge fought back and were in the lead 3-2, only for MVC to equalise late on. | |
| 31.8.11 | Opening Day Of The Season: Build-Up | It's that time of year again, it's the first game of the season this weekend. Hedge Reds start life in division two at home against Meon Valley Circuit FC, a team who Hedge have played twice, and ironically drawn 2-2 twice. However, well over a year on and the reds have improved massively, they are stronger, fitter and play their football more intelligently. Along with their impressive pre-season this year, and their current run of four wins in a row scoring seventeen goals in those four games, Hedge Reds are not looking to give the good run of form up easily. Last year's start to the season saw Hedge get off to a flying start with a 3-0 win, followed by a 5-0, then another 3-0, three clean sheets scoring eleven goals. Hedge Reds will certainly be looking to replicate that sort of start this year. Some early team news, Dan Rowling and Jon Cox are both unavailable for the game, however, new signing Paul Adderley will make his debut in goal for the reds. Jake Ludgate is recovering from a minor injury he picked up in training, but despite that, the reds will put out a strong side to gain the vital first three points of the season. More team news will follow in the week. | |
| 30.8.11 | Manager Seeks Back-To-Back Promotion | After a successful second season by finishing in second place, one goal from the top spot, being promoted into division two thanks to the high finish and the fact the leagues were restructured slightly, the Reds' manager is looking for a back-to back promotion. Steve Garley, Reds manager, commented 'The lads performed extremely well last season, we got off to a cracking start due to hard work and determination and that was followed through right to the end. We've had a great pre-season campaign so far this year, the team's morale is high, everyone is in great shape and we're ready to push for another great season. I'm looking for another promotion, back-to-back, so we reach the top flight for next season. As a team I'm very confident we can reach the top two with the guys' determination, commitment and hard work.' | |
| 30.8.11 | Transfer Deadline Day Looms | As the transfer window nears to a close, the speculation surrounding who Hedge will sign has been huge. The reds have been linked with several high profile players from the premiership and la liga, but the club can confirm it has no interest in signing anyone from there. The club can confirm that it's in talks with a potential goalkeeper and striker to add even more quality and depth to the current squad. | |
| 30.8.11 | Another Friendly Arranged | Hedge Reds have agreed to play Cosham on 22nd October 2011, the reds will play at home. The last time these two sides met ended in a 2-1 victory for Hedge, but who knows what this friendly will bring? | |
29.8.11 |
